Feminist?
Why do you think people hesitate to accept the label feminist?
What is your impression of modern feminism?
Anyone willing to accept the label?
I think people fail to accept the label feminist because it has such a negative undertone. For instance just overhearing the word feminist without any context, and an automatic picture of radical women picketing for female rights appears. Some might wish to accept being labeled a feminist for many different reasons; one such reason is that they don’t wish to be considered radical. Another is they might, as old-fashion as the idea is, wants a husband and believes that being “a feminist” might discourage potential husbands. Other might not want the attention that comes with being a feminist or the responsibility of having to make a stand on issues.
Modern feminism is no longer what it was in a sense, but some things haven’t changes. Sure women have more rights, but there are many battles yet to be won for these activists, and they are still out there showing men how un-feminine they really are.
Me as an individual, I wouldn't say I was a feminist, mostly because if they came asking for supports I wouldn't go blindly into battle. Truthfully, as a female I am always going to support equal-opportunity and women's rights, but I am not radical, or an activist in any way, and to me being a feminist involves being an activist. I am not an activist, I am just a young girl trying to figure out what I believe in. In a few years.. who knows...
